Smart Snacks In Schools 2015
Beginning School Year 2015 there will be new nutrition standards for all foods served in schools during the school day, including vending machines and fundraisers.
"The Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards support better health for our kids and echo the good work already taking place in schools across the country. The new standards preserve flexibility for time-honored traditions like fundraisers and bake sales, and provide ample transition time for schools. USDA is committed to working closely with students, parents, school stakeholders, and the food and beverage industries to implement the new guidelines, and make the healthy choice the easy choice for America’s young people." Universal Free Breakfast
Universal Free Breakfast Program
Free Breakfast for Students!
Breakfast is an important part of every child's day. Studies have shown that students that eat breakfast perform better in academics and have decreased illness, tardiness, and absenteeism.
Because breakfast is so important to the growing child, Madison County School Nutrition will extend the Universal Free Breakfast Program for the 2017-2018 school year. Each student in the system can receive a no-cost breakfast at all of our schools. If the child wishes to purchase additional items they can do so at a nominal cost. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this benefit!
