• ASL Club Mission Statement:

MCHS ASL Club strives to provide opportunities for students to learn or improve their sign language skills, learn about and experience Deaf culture and provide opportunities to help students feel comfortable communicating and socializing with Deaf people.

One goal ofMCHS' ASL Club is to get the club members comfortable with signing an introduction about who they are/where they come from in order to feel prepared to have a conversation with deaf or hard-of-hearing people. Our hope is that as the members learn more about the language and Deaf culture, they will be interested in learning more, perhaps at a more sophisticated level (such as an ASL class).

MCHS ASL Club meets during the club time provided during the MCHS school day schedule.

Vocabulary acquisition, basic ASL grammar, introduction to Deaf culture, games, personal introductions, as well as guest speakers are among the activities planned for meetings.
