As a Madison County graduate, resident, and parent of two children in the Madison County Charter School System; it is my honor to serve the children and families of Madison County as the principal of Comer Elementary School!  My professional experience includes working as a high school teacher and assistant principal in Gwinnett County, before coming home to Madison County to serve as the RTI-Assessment Coordinator and then Student Services Director for the district. From there, I moved to Comer Elementary in 2018, and we have been soaring together ever since!

I am a proud “triple Dawg,” having graduated three times from UGA with degrees in English, English Education, and a doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy.  The diplomas on my wall that mean the most, however, are the high school diplomas from Comer High School and Ila High School that belonged to my grandparents and great uncle.  They are a reminder that Madison County has a rich history of education, and I am part of a proud tradition of graduating independent, productive citizens!  I will always encourage the Comets to reach for the stars.  In the words of Paul Brandt, “Don’t tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon!”  #soarabove, Comets!

Mrs. Stephanie Dickens

My name is Stephanie Dickens and I am so very proud to be a Comer Comet! This year is my first year as an assistant principal, but I am in my twenty-fifth year as an educator. My initial degree was in Middle Grades Education from the University of Georgia in 1998. In 2004, I completed my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, also from UGA. I finished my third degree program in 2019, earning a Specialist’s Degree in Teacher Leadership from Valdosta State University. Additionally, I hold a Gifted Endorsement and a certificate in Tier 1 Administrative Leadership.

As a classroom teacher, I worked with elementary-aged students of all abilities, and I am passionate about differentiating appropriately to accommodate students’ unique learning styles and individual capabilities. I firmly believe that strong positive relationships with both students and parents through community building and effective communication are key to student success. I hope to never lose sight of what I believe is the most important job of an educator at any level, which is meeting students where they are and doing whatever it takes to help them be the very best they can be! It is my goal to have these principles at the forefront of everything I do as your Comer Elementary Assistant Principal.

Outside of being an educator, my most important roles are that of wife and mother. My husband Jason and I have four children: Jake (23), Luke (21), Abby (19), and JR (15).

I am so grateful for this new position and look forward to getting to know each and every member of the Comer family!

Thankful for your support,

Stephanie Dickens
