Super Saver Update

What went well? Grade levels help distribute forms (divide and conquer), students excited about Sailors getting slimed, and Mrs. Trump receipting money again (yay!)

Mrs. Scogin will contact our food truck rep for Chickfila for approval before submitting the complete plan to Dr. Sailors for approval.

PTO Officer responsibilities:

Co-Presidents: Organizes and leads meetings with officers and parents; Creates agendas for monthly meetings and shares with all officers; Create grade level handouts for Teacher Appreciation Acts of Kindness

Co-Vice Presidents: Posts need for donations on Signup Genius; manage monthly grade-level teacher appreciation items.

Secretary: Adds meeting minutes to the meeting agenda and provides information to Mr. Bond to upload to Facebook; creates flyers for PTO events (Family Movie Night, Restaurant/ Food Truck Spirit Nights)

Treasurer: Records, balances, and reports PTO budget to officers and/or principal

Community Liaison: Connects Comer Elementary with community businesses; helps pick up and deliver materials and other needed things for the school, classrooms, and teachers.

School Liaison: Monitors teachers’ lounge during teacher appreciation days; makes copies of handouts and flyers for grade-level teachers' distribution.
** We all will work together to support each others’ responsibilities and to set up the lounge for any special events throughout the year. Our ultimate goal is to support teachers and students at Comer Elementary to promote a positive learning environment for all.

Teacher and class popup reward days throughout the year: How can PTO support fun rewards throughout the year for all at Comer???

Help fill the self-care basket for teachers (sample size lotions, lip gloss, chocolate, flair pens, etc)

Help provide popup rewards for students: donate items (glow bracelets, erasers, stickers, skittles, starbursts, etc)

Give teachers a 10-minute break using the set of selected volunteers. All volunteers will need to have a record check on file with the school.

Review Grade Level Field Trip and Enrichment Opportunities

We will send out the expectation for grade levels when planning for the school year’s events.

Field Trip & Grade level Enrichment is defined as:
Field trips and school-based enrichment opportunities are determined by the grade level team for all grade level students.
The School Governance Team will approve the use of the funds for the grade levels. We encourage grade levels to create a plan for the field trip(s) and enrichment activities to be submitted to the School Governance Team earlier in the year to ensure approval in time for proposed activities.
Specific Parameters for Grade level enrichment opportunities: TBD

PTO parent volunteers with a current record check on the school file may volunteer to be Comet the Tiger during star assemblies and special events. More details to follow.

1. March Beverage Bar setup for Wednesday
2. Spirit Sprint events & monies
- Money donated as of 3/28/22: $2500 (businesses)+ $3460.65 (class donations,
concessions)= $5766.89 (total after all expenses)
- Make it Monday Shoes and Tattoo Tuesday Tattoos/ stickers already delivered to teacher
boxes
- Gift cards for students who purchased the $30 bundle:- All students who purchased this bundle will receive an ice cream coupon
- We will have a drawing for a $10 gift card for each grade level during Friday’s
assembly. Mrs. Kathy is picking up gift cards today. ($60 from PTO funds)
- Principal for the Day: PTO officers narrow down the choices before student voting

** PTO is willing to set aside a portion of the money to help with new equipment. However, PTO
has decided to wait on spending any surplus monies at this time until all expenses are cleared
for this school year and the PTO budget for the 2022-23 year is final.- PTO funds for grade level field trips: What are the field trip guidelines when using PTO
funds? Do we want grade levels to exhaust their field trip monies before asking parents
for money? OR Do we want grade levels to ask for a set donation from all students first?- ISI would like to use PTO funds for bringing special things into the classroom
during the ABC countdown instead of going on a community field trip due to
behaviors. PTO approved funds for School-based enrichment opportunities for
ISI students this school year.
- 2nd grade would like to use PTO funds for buying pizzas for all students to eat
back at school on the same day of their field trip once they return. PTO approved
the take-out pizza after bowling for Second grade this school year.● PTO would like to approve the Field Trip & Grade level Enrichment opportunity for all grade levels for the School Year 2022-23.

Budget Update
The current balance after 1st day of school appreciation is $5,891.92. Deductions for tables have not been applied to the amount at this present time. The budget for tables/benches ranged around $2,000. Once done we should have an estimate of $3,891.92.
Super Saver Cards
Updates on tallies for the leaderboard will be announced after Labor Day.
The end of the Sale will be Friday, September 17th for the tally.
Conference Lunch for Teachers
PTO will provide lunch on either October 13th or 14th no date has yet been determined.
Currently looking into food vendors for COVID friendly packaging i.e. Chick Fil A and/or possible vouchers.
A possible budget would be around $300 - $500 for lunches.
Family Movie Night
Due to the COVID event is still pending, currently on hold for approval via Dr. Sailors.
If approved date will be set for Thursday, November 11th.
PTO is in agreement that events should be held outdoors should the weather permit.
Movie selection is TBD possibly looking into Raya and the Last Dragon by Disney rated PG.
Mrs. Scogin will check with Mrs. Carey on both movie lists and if the entertainment company is on board with the selected date, as well as checking guidelines with the company on credit for possible future use if the date were to be canceled due to either weather or safety precautions due to COVID.
Looking into Chick Fil A truck as food vendor as well as selling popcorn until supplies last.
The possible budget would be around $500.
Monthly Teacher Appreciation
No date determined yet as to when flyers will go home with students.
Mrs. Armel came up with a great suggestion that we should change up the order process and start with the elder grades first for participation and progress downward for each selected month. PTO is in agreement with a new order.
The months will be as followed:
October (5TH Grade): Apple Bar
November (4th Grade): Candy Bars – Fun Size
December (3rd Grade): Hot Drinks – K-Cups i.e. Coffee, Apple Cider, Hot Chocolate
February (2nd Grade): Bagels
March (1st Grade): Trail Mix
April (Kindergarten): TBD – Fruit was suggested
CommentsCurrently, everything is played by ear due to COVID.
Mrs. LaVere has suggested PTO be added to DOJO and Remind apps in order to reach out to parents more effectively and therefore possibly generate more participation.
Minutes took place in Data Room from 3:18 pm to 4:20 pm.
