Tennis: Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Tennis Teams who both beat Elbert County yesterday to finish their seasons undefeated. Both teams are Regular Season Region Champs and will be the number 1 Seed in the Tournament and it will be held at Madison County High School’s Tennis Courts, so come support your classmates’ afterschool tomorrow.
Wear Blue on Monday: Attention All Students…we are planning a “Wear Blue for Chase Day”. This will be Monday, March 25th. We are going to show our love to him and wear blue. Don’t forget and remind your teachers!!
MCHS Basketball: There will be an informational meeting for any 8th grade boy interested in playing basketball at the High School next year on Tuesday, March 26th at 2:25 in the back of the Media Center.
Upward Bound: Applications need to be turned in to Counselors no later than March 29th. If you still need an application, see your House Counselor.
Chorus: Chorus Students, please remember that our Spring Concert is Monday, March 25th. You need to be in your lineup seats in the cafeteria by 6:45 pm that evening. Wear your chorus shirts and black pants or skirts (below the knee).
Chorus: Chorus Students, please remember to wear your chorus shirts to school on Wednesday, March 27th. We will be singing for the visiting 5th graders!
Yearbooks: Final Call-last day to purchase a 2019 yearbook is March 25th at Jostens.com. Limited supply left.
Book Drive: MCMS Book Drive is going on now! Please donate any gently used books to the media center. We are hoping to have enough to do a giveaway in May.
FCCLA: FCCLA is sponsoring a supply drive to benefit the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter. We are focusing our efforts on the following items, but any items are welcome: paper towels, newspaper, old/gently used towels and blankets, and used but in good condition leashes and collars. Also, always in need are pet food and cat litter. Bring any items to Mrs. Coker’s room next to the cafeteria by Thursday, March 22nd.
Cheerleading: Reminder to anyone interested in trying out for Middle School Cheer in April: You must have your completed sports physical turned in to Mrs. Kimsey before March 22nd. No late physicals will be accepted. You will not be allowed to tryout without a current physical.
Lost & Found: We have a New Lost & Found Location!! Items are in the alcove in the cafeteria. Please check here if you are missing an item. On the last school day of each month, any unclaimed items will be donated.
Bus Notes: All bus notes need to be turned in no later than 9:30 am!!
Title 1: Parents and Guardians, if you missed taking the Title 1 Parent Survey during Spring Conferences, now is your chance to help us meet our goal of at least 100 responses! SB 401: Parents and Guardians, per a new state law (SB 401), MCMS is implementing a state mandated sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention program in grades 6-8. The MCMS School Counselors will use the research-based “Speak Up; Be Safe” Program. The counselors at MCMS have gone through additional training and will be implementing these lesson on the following dates (dates vary by team):
6th Grade: Lesson 1: Feb. 26 OR 27 /Lesson 2: Feb. 28 OR March 1
7th Grade: Lesson 1: March 18 or 19
8th Grade: Lesson March 20 OR 21
Students must participate in these lessons, unless a parent or guardian signs an Opt Out Letter.
Opt Out Letters for all grades will go home on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. If a parent or guardian DOES NOT want their child to participate, Opt Out Letters must be returned to their child’s Social Studies teachers ASAP.

Red Flagged Buses: The following are Red Flagged Buses. Only Students that live on these routes are allowed to ride these buses. 03-82(Hall), 04-85(Haynes), 04-87(Bray), 11-6(Rebar), 11-7(Kettle), 11-8(Bird), 15-20(Layton), 15-21(Arrendale) and 16-22(Fortson).
Middle Grade Students: are NOT allowed to ride the bus to the High School and get off their bus to ride home with anyone else (car or another bus) or to attend an After School Event, without prior approval from transportation.
