May Minutes Approved Budget Update

Current PTO budget balance is $5,604.25.

Title I Information

Dr. Register distributed copies of the Title I Annual Meeting slideshow.

Super Saver Cards

Super Saver cards are still available. Dr. Register will send out a Remind message, and Mr. Sikes will add an announcement to the marquee to remind students and parents to keep selling. Deadline for sales may be extended since the cards are the school’s main fundraiser.

Feed My School Week

Feed My School Week kicks off with an assembly on September 23. Local farmers and representatives will be in attendance. Georgia grown foods will be served at lunch during the week of September 26, and students will participate in other agricultural activities.

Family Movie Night Fundraiser

The Good Dinosaur will be the feature for the October 24 movie night.  Movie will start at 6:30 on the back field with pre­show entertainment provided by the movie company. Admission for one adult and one child will be $10. This price will also include a large popcorn, two drinks, and one light up CES bracelet. A discount will be available for families with five children or more.

Students will be able to purchase package tickets in advance.

Spirit Sprint

The group agreed to contact local companies to price bulk yard signs for the Spirit Sprint.

Field Trips

Dr. Register updated the group on PTO funded grade level field trips. Planned trips are:

  • PreK - ­Washington Farms
  • K­ - Botanical Gardens
  • 1st - ­Cici’s Pizza
  • 3rd­ - Sandy Creek Nature Center
  • 4th­ - Stone Mountain
  • 5th - ­Georgia Aquarium. PTO contributes $500 per trip, with the exception of the 5th grade trip which receives $1,000.

Teacher Appreciation Ideas

The board agreed to solicit parent donations for small monthly teacher appreciation goodies. A letter explaining this plan will go home with students. PTO will provide pizza for teacher luncheon on October 14 and breakfast for teachers on February 17.
