Lesson One (Friday) - Discuss the importance of rules

Why are rules necessary?

What would happen if we didn’t have rules?

What could happen in a baseball game if the team didn’t follow the rules? Why do we need rules in school?

Let us review the rules at Comer. We are going to call them showing our STAR behavior! --Strive to do your best, Take responsibility, Always work together, Respect yourself & others

(With older grades, you can explain how an expectation relates to a rule)

Lesson Two (Monday) - STAR expectations

Have your STAR poster visible for the class to see. Read the four expectations/rules together.  Repeat as much as necessary.

Lesson Three (Tuesday) - Review the STAR expectations focusing on rules within the classroom

Have students repeat the four expectations.

Focusing on the classroom section of the behavior matrix, discuss the examples given (plus others that students may come up with).

Lesson Four (Wednesday) - Review the STAR expectations focusing on the restroom

Same as lesson three

Lesson Five (Thursday) - Review the STAR expectations focusing on the lunchroom

Same as other lessons

Lesson Six (Friday) - Review the STAR expectations focusing on the hallway

Same as the other lessons

Lesson Seven (Monday) - Review the STAR expectations focusing on the playground and bus

Same as the other lessons

*After these lessons you can do review lessons when needed along with ticket out the door type questions. For example, “What expectation matches flushing the toilet, washing hands, and using water and paper towels wisely?”  The answer would be Take Respo
