CampRAIDERS (21st CCLC)

Camp RAIDERS

CampRAIDERS is funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant.  The 21st CCLC  program is authorized under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, most recently authorized as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015.  The 21st CCLC program provides federal funding for the establishment of community learning centers that provide academic and enrichment opportunities for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, in order to meet state and local standards in core academic subjects such as reading, math, and science.  This program is intended to offer a broad array of activities and to include families and the community in the educational process.

Madison County was awarded a 5-year 21st CCLC grant in 2017 to establish CampRAIDERS, an after-school and summer enrichment program, at Colbert and Hull-Sanford Elementary Schools. The program is designed to target eligible students in 3rd to 5th grades and to meet four broad goals: increase academic achievement, increase college and career readiness, increase personal wellness, and increase family involvement. Curriculum and activities are designed around STEAM, literacy, and health and wellness.
